Company News
Its hot, its windy, its summer, which also means the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour is just
around the corner. After too much eating and drinking over the festive season, its time to get
back in the saddle and focus on fitness.
Entries for the Cycle Tour opened last year September and we’re expecting approximately
40,000 competiors to take part in the most beautiful and gruelling cycle event in the country.
The Cycle Tour is in fact the largest timed cycling event in the world and covers 110 km,
starting in Cape Town’s City Centre.
We are proud to be providing the Goodie Bags for this event, which will be presented to
cyclists upon registration at the Cape Argus Lifestyle Expo between 10th & 12th March.
By Sampling in our Goodie Bags, companies and event participants benefit not only from brand
exposure and product trial, but they are also supporting local non-profit organisations.
Cape Town based event bags are packed by Alta Du Toit Nasorg, a facility for adults with
intellectual disabilities. Goodie Bags are gender specific so clients can choose to
tailor their product sampling. For this year’s Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour we’re
packing 10,000 female and 30,000 male bags.
An added bonus of sampling in the Cycle Tour’s Goodie Bag is that clients receive a Post
Event Research Report free of charge. Last year over 9% of competitors completed the online
survey and provided invaluable feedback on products they tried in their Goodie Bag.
Monica Childs Marketing (MCM) is the sole distributor of the Goodie Bag at most major national
sporting events. Aimed at the participants of these specific events, the Goodie Bag provides
an ideal low cost vehicle for placing product samples and promotional material directly into the
hands of a captive and highly targeted market segment.
